The Indian Army contingent arrived at Ulanbatar in Mongolia on Wednesday (June 11, 2025), which was held from 14 June to 28 June to participate in the multinational military exercise Khan Quest.
Annual exercise brings military forces together to increase and enhance its peace capabilities. Previous version of Khan Quest Mongolia was held from 27 July to 9 August 2024.
The exercise, which began in 2003 as a bilateral initiative between the United States and Mongolian Armed Forces, developed in an attempt for a multinational peace system since 2006. The current version has marked the 22nd repetition of the practice, the Ministry of Defense said.
The ministry said, “The Indian Army team, which involves 40 personnel, is mainly represented by soldiers from a battalion of Kumaon Regiment along with personnel of other weapons and services. A woman officer and two women soldiers will also be part of casual,” the ministry said.
The practice aims to prepare the Indian armed forces for the conduct of peace in a multinational setting, increasing the difference and military readiness in the operation of peace aid. Chapter of United Nations Charter VII,
According to the Ministry, strategic practice to be performed will include static and mobile posts, cordon and search operations, patrolling, withdrawal of citizens from hostile areas, counter-improved explosive device (IED) drills, Combat First Aid, and casualty withdrawal.
