In a large crack on illegal firearms in this district, the police have arrested nine people and seized 24 live cartridges. On Tuesday, Vijayapura Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said that the police intensified their investigation after the murder of Satish Prem Singh Rathore on 28 January.
That day, Ramesh Lamani shot and killed Satish Rathore in Arikeri Tanda under the boundaries of Vijaypura Rural Police Station, he said.
Six people were arrested in connection with the case and sent to judicial custody.
Sagar, aka Suresh Rathod was arrested on 13 February.
Nimbargi said that during interrogation, Sagar revealed that he had purchased a pistol from Madhya Pradesh and supplied to Ramesh Lamni.
The police also discovered that he was bringing country-made pistols from Madhya Pradesh and supplying them to various persons.
“During our raids at various places, we recovered nine country-made pistols and 24 live cartridges. In connection with this, we arrested nine people: Prakash Rathore from Vijaypura, Ashok Pandre, Sujit Rathod, Sukhdev Rathod, Sindagia Taluk Prakash Rathod, Ganesh Shivram Shetty, Chanpappa Mallappa Naganur, Santosh Rathod and Janardan Pawar, “said the Superintendent of Police.
He said that the police is further interrogating nine suspects.
“Sagar used to sell these pistols between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh somewhere. He has been doing this for the last five years. While working as a truck driver, he came in contact with a person from Madhya Pradesh, in which He used to buy a pistol, “Nimbargi said.
