A bureaucrat, her mother and her sister were found dead at their residence in Kaknad Customs Quarter in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Officials said on Thursday that the police were suspected of being a suicide case.
The dead officer, identified as Manish Vijay, who also works as an additional commissioner and GST and IRS officer of Central Excise, had been living in government quarters for the last 14 months. His colleagues were worried after his colleagues failed to return to work after a four -day holiday. On going to his residence, he detected a strong smell and according to a report on NDTV, immediately alerted the authorities.
Police discovered the bodies of Manish Vijay, his mother Shakuntala and sister Shalini in a disintegrated state. Investigators believe the deaths occurred several days ago. While preliminary findings suggest that Manish and Shalini died of suicide, the exact cause of Shakuntala’s death is not clear and will be determined after the postmortem examination, as reported by The News Minutes.
There was a note in a diary recovered from the scene in which his brother -in -law was instructed, who lives abroad, his deaths are informed.
Kochi Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya said that the bodies were for several days and they had already started decaying. He said that a suicide note was recovered and they were all investigating the possible angles.
Officials have filed an FIR, and forensic experts are checking a diary note and other evidence to determine the circumstances around the deaths.
Manish Vijay, originally served as an additional commissioner under the Central Excise and Customs in Jharkhand, GST Department. He was on a week’s leave and was expected to resume duty when the bodies were found.
