Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Friday, according to a report on Manorama, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that five students who were booked to five students would be expelled. This step comes when Minister Bindu promised strict action against the accused associated with the incident. On Thursday, cruel ragging scenes came out from the Government Nursing College in Kottayam.
Seniors allegedly used the dumbbell to hurt private parts as part of ragging to their juniors. He allegedly forced juniors to provide him with money and subjected him to physical and mental torture.
The victims alleged that the accused naked them, placed dumbbells on their private parts, and provoked injuries using compass and sharp objects. He further claimed that the seniors poured lotion on their wounds and forced them to apply cream on their face, head and mouth as part of insult. The incidents of ragging took place mainly in the men’s hostel.
According to the complaint, ragging began in November last year, in which juniors had permanent the months of physical and psychological pain in the men’s hostel.
Accused-Samuel Johnson (20), Jeeva NS (19), Rahul Raj KP (22), Riziljith C (21), and Vivek NV (21)-Second and third year general nursing students.
Following the complaint of three junior students, the Kottayam Gandhinagar police registered a case on Wednesday, arresting five accused.
The arrested students are currently registered in the district jail. He was first sent by a local court.
On Friday, ABVP and SFI took a separate protest march in the college. Subsequently, the police had to withdraw the water canon to disperse them.
A team appointed by the Director of Medical Education is ready to visit the institution for an inquiry. The investigation will be led by the Deputy Director of Nursing Education to assess the limit of misuse and ensure accountability.
