A Class 8 student was raped and murdered in Kolkata when she left home when she was rebuked by her mother. Police found his body in bushes in New Town on Friday morning. An e-rickshaw driver who was last seen with the teenager has been arrested.
The officer said, “The girl is a student of class VIII. She left home after scolding her mother to read. She left a letter before leaving around 10 am.”
When the girl did not return till the next morning, the family lodged a missing complaint at New Town Police Station at 4:30 am on Friday.
The police then reviewed the CCTV footage and found that the girl rode in an e-rickshaw after leaving the house. E-rickshaw driver, 22-year-old Sumitra Roy moved her with a young girl before taking her to a separate place, where she allegedly sexually assaulted her. When the girl tried to raise the alarm, she allegedly killed her and ran away from the spot.
The next morning, residents of Lohar Pulse area of New Town paid attention to the dead body and informed the police. A half naked body was found in a plot owned by West Bengal Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation.
Given the signs on the scratch mark on the girl’s neck and her body, the police believe that there is a possibility that she was raped before the death was strangled. “
The post -mortem was held by the state at the RG tax Medical College and Hospital to find out the cause of death.
Kolkata Police has not found any evidence of someone else’s participation. The accused has also confessed to the crime.
Mr. Roy’s wife has revealed that the accused has a criminal history. He was derogatory and was facing a case to tamper with a woman in his hometown Ranghat, the wife said.
