An Alaska Airlines flight for Ockland, California, Portland, Oregan was canceled after a violent middle-up incident in which a flight attendant was physically physically to prevent a passenger from assaulting a woman Had to intervene.
The incident of February 2, caught on the video and widely shared online, shows the flight attendant repeatedly to force the man to leave the woman’s hair.
The uncontrolled passenger was later arrested, and Alaska Airlines banned him from future flights.
According to the New York Post, Flight 221 for Portland, Oregon was seen struggling to free a female passenger, when the man suddenly grabbed her hair behind her. “Let her hair go!” Somebody is heard shouting in the video because the flight attendant has made a man’s grip.
When the passenger refused to release him, the flight attendant resorted to him to strike several times in a neck and torso.
As seen in the video, the flight attendant then stopped the man shouting and called for “another competent male” to help keep him under control. Witnesses on the board said that according to the New York Post, the man was saying “strange stuff and ahead” before the attack.
After returning to the aircraft gate at Okland International Airport, officials arrested the passenger. The flight was canceled and passengers were later booked again during the day.
Victim and airline response
Later the woman who was attacked remembered the terrible experience, stating, “My hair was not in anyone’s way, anyone to encourage it to grab it,” cited by the outlet view from the wing .
He explained how the man demonstrated irregular behavior, briefly beating his head on the seat several times before losing and regaining consciousness. “He grabbed my hair close to the skull. Did I lean forward, he could take my hair out. I was afraid that this man was going to punch me in the head and I am grateful for FA and other passengers Who stepped up, “he said.
Alaska Airlines confirmed the incident and appreciated the quick response to the flight crew. The airline said, “He appeared to be experiencing a violent medical episode, including ongoing physical attacks against other passengers and our crew.” The statement said, “Our crew quickly responded to this chaotic situation and kept all the guests safe until the law can intervene”, the statement said.
The airline further announced that according to the New York Post, the passenger has been banned from the Alaska Airlines and his regional carrier horizon air due to “the nature of the physical attack”.
