A 45 -year -old man was killed by a wild elephant in Noolpuzha in Wayanad district of Kerala on Monday (February 10, 2025). The deceased has been identified as Cupad Ananthil Manu. The incident occurred when he was returning home after buying groceries.
His body was discovered in a nearby paddy ground on Tuesday morning. His wife is allegedly missing.
Meanwhile, residents are protesting against the incident and preventing forest department officials from transferring the body. The police have been deployed to calm the agitated mob, demanding the presence of the District Collector at the scene.
Demand for fencing
KM Sindhu, a member of the local gram panchayat, told reporters that the residents had repeatedly demanded a fence in the area to protect themselves from wild animals attacks.
Nolupuzha is a gram panchayat which is the border of Wayanad and Karnataka. The allegedly deadly incident occurred in the nearby forest by wild elephants.
