Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned after a meeting with the state governor in the state capital Imphal on Sunday. Talking to sources News18 Indicated that the danger of the Congress’s no -confidence motion played a decisive role in his exit.
According to sources, the Congress was confident of getting support from the BJP MLAs, who were allegedly unhappy with Singh’s leadership. Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla informed the center of the developed situation.
In his resignation letter, Singh said, “Thus, serving the people of Manipur has been an honor. I am very grateful to the Central Government for timely action, intervention, developmental work and implementation of various projects to protect the interest of each Manipuri. ,
In the North East Manipur of BJP, Summit Patra, State BJP President was with a Sharda and at least 19 MLAs with Singh.
In the run-up for Singh’s resignation, major administrative changes were made in the hilly districts without the clear approval of the Chief Minister.
In the morning, Singh met Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi. According to sources, Singh was facing pressure from inside and outside the party.
The threat of no-confidence motion of the Congress resulted in his resignation of the National People’s Party (NPP) and his resignation against the party’s internal sources.
Even after Conrad Sangma’s withdrawal of support from NPP, BJP needed a majority in Manipur. But some MLAs were likely – who were demanding change in leadership – except the party in the event of a floor test situation.
