PM Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha: We did not use money to build ‘Sheesh Mahal’, but to build the country, the Prime Minister said while attacking Arvind Kejriwal.
PM Narendra Modi responded to the proposal of thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday excavated former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ line. “Some leaders focus on jacuzi and stylish shower in their homes, but we are focusing on bringing water to every house.”
PM Modi’s reply in the Lok Sabha came during a discussion on the speed of thanks to the President’s address.
Appreciating his government’s honesty, the PM said, “Earlier, media headline scams used to be. Now the story is that despite no scam, we are still able to save millions of people.
“We have not used that money to make ‘Sheesh Mahal’. We did not use this saved money to build ‘Sheesh Mahal’, but for the country. We have used funds for the creation of the country, not to build our bungalows, “Modi said.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had said that those who live in “Sheesh Mahal” will never understand the plight of someone who is not the owner of the house. Kejriwal has seriously criticized for allegedly spending Rs 45 crore on the renovation of the Chief Minister. The official residence, which is dubbed by his political rivals as “Sheesh Mahal”.
Modi had said that he himself is not a house, so he understands the pain of the poor. The PM said, “I do not have my own house, but my dream is to provide a solid house to every poor person.”
Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said in its findings that Kejriwal renovated 6 Flagstaff Road, his official residence, when he was the Chief Minister, at a high cost of Rs 33.66 crore.
The audit found that the former CM gave Rs 96 lakh on the screen, Rs 39 lakh on kitchen equipment, Rs 20.34 lakh on TV console, Rs 18.52 lakh on gym equipment, Rs 16.27 lakh on silk carpet, Rs 4.8 lakh on a miniber Did 66.89 lakh rupees on marble stone for walls, and Rs 14 lakh for floor tiles.
