Saurashtra batting stallwart Sheldon Jackson retired from first class cricket after 15 years of career

Prolific Sowir Better Sheldon Jackson retired from professional cricket on Tuesday (February 11, 2025) after a 15 -year career, his last outing ended in Gujarat’s defeat in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal in New Delhi.

38 -year -old Jackson, 105 retired with the highest score of 186, 21 hundreds and 39 half -centuries with more than 7200 runs in 105 first -class matches.

He ended his career on an average of his association in first -class cricket with more than 45 speech volumes.

Jackson has been a multidisciplinary cricketer and besides a trusted batsman and an excellent fielder. He also took wickets for Saurashtra in limited-over competitions.

In the long -term format, however, he did not need to thank the duties for the presence of Sagar Jogiani.

He scored 14 and 27 runs in his last two outings, as Gujarat won by an innings and 98 runs.

Jackson, who was once part of the Kolkata Knight Riders after being spotted by former Bengal player Joydeep Mukherjee, made his debut for Saurashtra in December 2011.

After being on the edge of selection for his state team Saurashtra for three years, he made his debut in December 2011.

He created four fifties in the 2012-13 Ranji season and three hundreds, back-to-back centuries in the quarter-finals and to help Saurashtra qualifying for the finals for the first time in the semi-finals against Karnataka and Punjab respectively.

Due to his outstanding run with bat that year, he broke India into a team for a series against West Indies A at home. He was also a prominent member in the second charge of Saurashtra towards the Ranji Trophy title in the 2015-16 season.

Last month, Jackson called time on his limited overs career after scoring 2792 runs in 84 innings, with the most unbeaten 133 during the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2022.

In a limited over game, he hit nine centuries and 14 half -centuries in all.
