A excavation in the UPA government, Surya said that HTT-40 represents a trip to India from foreign dependence to self-reliance, from scam to self-reliance.
“… In 2012, under UPA, India purchased Swiss Pilatus trainer aircraft through a deal of Rs 3,000 crore. However, the purchase process was later filled with irregularities, which led to a CBI inquiry in 2019, Which revealed the participation of middlemen in the deal. As a result, Pilatus was blacklisted, which led to an immediate need for an indigenous training aircraft to India.
The indigenous trainer program, which was initially faced by failures, gained momentum in 2014 under the guidance of PM Modi’s administration and the then defined minister Manohar Parrikar, said HAL successfully developed the aircraft.
The HTT-40 features a zero-zero-zero ejection seat, including four-blade turbo-app, glass cockpit and advanced security systems.
“This achievement is dedicated to the late Manohar Parrikar, for which the vision for self -reliance was important in reviving the indigenous trainer program. HTT-40 was inaugurated by him and today, it stands as a symbol of India’s change in defense construction, ”said Surya.
The success of HTT -40 was not possible without the tireless efforts of engineers, scientists and workers without the tireless efforts of HAL’s chief designers, Suma Prakash and Ramanand.
With HAL now producing low cost, high-demonstration fighter aircraft, many nations, especially from global south, are showing interest in achieving Indian-made fighter jets, Surya said.
