SOP implemented in Eluru village after confirmation of bird flu; Collector warns against spreading rumors

Of Eluru Collector. Wetriselvi has said that rumors are having rounds, claiming that a person from the district has signed a bird flu.

He urged people not to consider such ‘baseless rumors’ and nervousness. He told the media on Thursday, “There is no evidence of bird flu so far to be sent to humans.”

Ms. Vetricelvi said that properly ripe eggs and meat are safe for consumption and no case of bird flu has been reported in humans. The forest department has also been alerted as a precautionary measure.

The Collector explained the measures taken in the district related to bird flu. He mentioned that the animal husbandry officials were alerted after receiving a complaint about the death of chickens in a chicken farm in Badmpudi village of Anguturu Mandal.

Samples collected from dead birds were sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases at Bhopal for testing, and on Wednesday evening, the report came confirming the presence of bird flu.

Subsequently, the standard operation process (SOP) has been implemented. A coordination meeting was held with the district officials to assess the situation.

The collector said that the area has been declared an infected area within a radius of one kilometer of the affected poultry farm in Badampudi and the 10 -km radius has been nominated as a monitoring area. They said

Overall, 20 Rapid Response Team (RRT), which includes five members in each, has been deployed for the Kalinga Process. These teams have been provided necessary protective equipment such as PPE kits.

In addition, people are being sensitive to precautions that need to be taken against bird flu. He said that medical camps are being installed within the scope of 10-km of the infected area to provide antiviral treatment to birds showing the symptoms of the flu.
