DK Shivkumar, vice -president of Karnataka, has urged the residents of the state that instead of attending the Kumbh Mela in Trevani Sangam in T Narcipura in Misuru district, instead of visiting the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Northern Pradesh, instead of Hindu Informed The 13th edition of the historic Kumbh Mela in T Narcipura, often referred to as the prayer Aquarius of South India, officially began on Wednesday, attracted thousands of devotees and saints beyond Karnataka and beyond.
Shivkumar, who recently visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Pragraj and took a holy dip with his family, cited a huge crowd as a reason for his suggestion in the Uttar Pradesh program. Talking to reporters in Mysuru, he said that now it was challenging to go to Pragraj for prayer, so people today could visit Treveeni Sangma in Narcipura for a holy dip.
Triveni Sangam features major rituals such as Kumbh Mela, Kaveri, Kabini and Spatika Sarovar rivers, holy bath, spiritual discourse and cultural programs. These incidents are expected to continue in the next few days, which add religious enthusiasm and also attract a large crowd.
However, Shivkumar’s comments created a political controversy, in which opposition leader R. Ashok replied with a comment. He questioned whether DK Shivkumar took a dip in the Ganges and ‘sin’ went away. Ashoka highlighted the opposite of prayer with his family amid Shivkumar’s recent visit.
Earlier, Shivkumar, who is also the chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, took a holy dip in the confluence of prayer, along with his wife Usha. This series of visits to the Shivkumar family has attracted attention, especially in the light of Siddaramaiah’s more reserved approach to such religious events.
