‘Time has come’: Zalensky ‘demands the creation of armed forces of Europe – Times of India

Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski on Saturday called for creating an integrated “armed forces of Europe”, arguing that the war between Ukraine and Russia already prepared the basis for such a force.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Zelansky warned that Europe should prepare for the possibility that the US “cannot ask Europe on issues that threaten it”.
“I really believe that the time has come,” he said, “The armed forces of Europe should be made.”
He said that while European leaders have discussed the need for more military freedom for a long time, Ukraine’s three -year full -scale war has proved the need for such a force.
The Ukrainian leader also mentioned a phone call between former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, after which Trump suggested a possible peace talks.
While Trump later assured Zelansky that Ukraine would be included in the talks, Zelancesi directly doubts any deal made without Ukrainian participation.
He said, “Ukraine will never accept deals behind our back without our participation, and the same rule should apply to the whole of Europe,” he said. “A few days ago, President Trump told me about his conversation with Putin. Once he did not mention that America needs Europe at the table.”
Addressing NATO general secretary Mark Rutte, he emphasized that his proposal was not intended to change NATO, but to ensure that Europe plays a similar role with the US in Trancellantic security.
Earlier, in his address at the conference, Zelancesi accused us, in which the Biden administration was also not to see Ukraine as a member of NATO.
