Yamunanagar: A youth allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself after setting fire to another youth in Yamunanagar district. The deceased was identified as Ashish, a resident of Majri village in Yamunnagar.
Sankat, a resident of Jagadhri, maintained bullet injuries in firing by Ashish. He was initially rushed to a civil hospital in Yamunnagar and later sent to Pagimer, Chandigarh for further treatment.
On Tuesday, Sankate and his three friends were sitting in a car in Model Town in Yamunnagar, when Ashish allegedly reached a two -wheeler and set them on fire. He then ran away from the scene.
According to reports, the police chased Ashish, but when he surrounded himself, he allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in an agricultural area in Saran village. Police recovered a pistol and 20 cartridges near his body.
Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP) Rajesh Kumar said that the investigation revealed that Ashish was working in the Education Department.
“Ashish had a dispute with Sankate on an issue three months ago, causing a complaint. On Tuesday, he saw Sankate sitting in a car with his friends in Model Town and shot four rounds, some of whom hit Sankate. After the attack, Ashish fled on his two -wheeler. While on the run, he carried out a vehicle at gunpoint near the toll plaza. The police chased him, and when he was surrounded, he shot himself in a ground near Saran village, “said DSP Rajesh.
Meanwhile, a case of attempt to murder was registered against Ashish at Yamunagar City Police Station, based on a complaint by Tamis.
Ashish’s uncle, Sandeep, has expressed concern over the incident and demanded a fair inquiry by an independent agency.
