Investigators of the Food and Drug Administration are working on a new Salmonella outbreak of unknown origin.
The outbreak of Salmonella Entritidis has made at least 18 people sick. The FDA has not reported the age of the patients or where they live. The agency has launched traceback efforts, but has not reported what food is being detected.
There are many more people who have become ill in the outbreak compared to this time, as the CDC estimates that each confirmed Salmonella patients have 29 patients who are unpublished.
In other outbreak news, The FDA has determined that E. Outbreak of coli O26: H11 infection was likely to be caused by alfalfa or clover sprouts. Public health officials conducted a patient interview and traceback investigation to determine the potential source of the pathogen.
According to the FDA, “Although the sprouts were confirmed as a vehicle, the investigators were unable to determine which types of sprouts were making people sick.”
The FDA first posted information about the outbreak on 30 October 2024. Investigators confirmed 10 patients in the outbreak, but many more people were likely to get sick. Disease control and prevention centers report that 26 patients e. Each confirmation in the outbreak of coli becomes inaccessible for the patient.
Once investigators had enough information to confirm the sprouts as a source of this outbreak, the products were before their shelf life and were no longer available for sale.
Other outbreak updates
FDA E. Coli O145: H28 has discontinued an investigation without finding the source of pathogen without an outbreak of infections. A total of eight people were confirmed as patients. The FDA started traceback efforts, but did not reveal what the food was detected.
For outbreaks of infection from Listeria monocytozens, the number of patients has increased to 35. The FDA has not reported the age of the patients or where they live. The agency has started an on-site inspection and sample test, but has not reported which place is being inspected or what kind of food is being tested. The agency first reported outbreak on 15 January.
For another outbreak of infection from Listeria monocytozens, the patient’s count is now at 34. The FDA has not reported the age of patients or where they live. The agency has started tracebacks, but has not reported which food it is detecting. The agency has also reported to start an onsite inspection and sample test, but it is not stated which place is being inspected or what is being tested. The FDA first reported outbreak on 26 December 2024.
